If I could do it over again I'd go with a darker tint and just ask around for a shop that looks the other way. FWIW I believe there's some factory tint on the glass, so a 70 tint on top of it would technically fail inspection (I found this out after also getting 70 tint in NY). Car window tinting laws in New York were enacted in 1991 and ammended in 2017. The front windshield and side windows on both sides of any vehicle operating in New York State must allow at least 70 of any light to pass through.
